What is Real Talk Real Agents?

Real Talk Real Agents is a free weekly real estate podcast for agents, hosted by Pam Saxman and Mackenzie Sottini — two working brokers who run Capital to Coast Realty across coastal North Carolina and the Triangle.

Every week they hit record and say the quiet parts out loud. The slow month. The lead source that ate $900 and gave back nothing. The commission conversation you rehearsed in the car and still fumbled. No stage voice, no guru energy, and nothing for sale at the end.

Episodes run about thirty minutes — one commute — and every one is free on every major podcast app and on YouTube.

Sound familiar

If you’ve thought any of these in the last thirty days, we made this for you.

7:12 AM
I have been busy every single day and I could not tell you what I actually got done.
11:40 AM
Everybody on Instagram is closing. What am I doing wrong?
2:05 PM
I said my commission out loud and then immediately apologized for it.
4:30 PM
My buyer wants to see one more house. And then one more house.
8:55 PM
I’ve been meaning to follow up with that lead since March.
10:20 PM
My brokerage promised training. What I got was a Facebook group.
11:47 PM
I haven’t taken a whole weekend off since I got licensed.

Nobody says this stuff at the office. Everyone’s too busy performing. So we started saying it on a microphone instead.

Why this one

There are a lot of real estate podcasts. Here’s the honest difference.

We’re not mad at the big shows. Some of them are great. But most of them are recorded by people whose main business is now selling advice, and you can hear it.

What you usually get

  • A guest who did 300 units in a market that looks nothing like yours
  • A script that only works if you already have 4,000 people in your database
  • Twelve minutes of intro before anyone says anything useful
  • Advice from someone who hasn’t sat at a listing appointment since 2019
  • A pitch for a $5,000 mastermind at minute forty

What you get here

  • Two brokers who were at a listing appointment this week, not in 2019
  • The part where it didn’t work, not just the part where it did
  • Real numbers from two very different markets — the coast and the Triangle
  • Language you can actually repeat out loud without cringing
  • Nothing for sale at the end. There is no course. There will not be a course.

What we talk about on the podcast

Real conversations for new agents, second-year agents, team leaders, and anyone who’s been doing this long enough to be tired of the usual advice.

Lead generation that doesn’t cost $900 a month Buyer agency agreements Commission conversations Surviving your first year as an agent Choosing a brokerage Splits, caps and what they really cost you Database and follow-up systems Open houses that actually work Social media for Realtors Price reductions without losing the listing Referrals and repeat business Burnout, boundaries and time off Relocation and out-of-state buyers Luxury and new construction

Every episode leaves you with one thing you can use before your next showing.

Words that work

Actual language for the conversations that make you sweat — commission, price reductions, the buyer who won’t commit.

A number to check yourself against

What’s normal right now, in this market, at your experience level. Not a highlight reel.

Permission to stop something

Half of getting better at this job is quitting the thing that’s quietly eating your Tuesdays.

A reason to like this again

You got into real estate for a reason. Some weeks you just need someone to remind you what it was.

Your hosts

Two brokers, one microphone, zero interest in sounding impressive.

One came out of pharmaceutical sales, the other out of the classroom. Neither of them grew up planning to sell real estate, which is probably why they talk about it the way they do.

Pam Saxman, Broker and Owner of Capital to Coast Realty and co-host of the Real Talk Real Agents real estate podcast

Pam Saxman

Broker | Owner, Capital to Coast Realty

Pam spent twenty years in pharmaceutical management before she ever touched a real estate license. She got licensed in 2013, helped build a top-five Wake County team that closed $125 million across 350+ families in a single year, then moved to the coast and sold $24 million her first full year in a market where nobody knew her name. Her team finished 2024 at $57 million and earned ICON Agent and Top Small Team honors.

She’s Luxury Certified and a Guild member of the Institute for Luxury Home Marketing. But the part she actually lights up about is sitting down with an agent and building them a plan.

She rebuilt from zero in a market where she didn’t know a soul. On the show, she’ll tell you what that actually felt like.

Mackenzie Sottini

Broker & Agent Mentor, Capital to Coast Realty

Mackenzie grew up in Florida and moved to the Raleigh area in 2006 with her husband and two kids. They picked Cary and never second-guessed it. Before real estate, her whole career was in education — which is exactly why she’s the one who can take your mess of a business and hand it back as three things you can do tomorrow.

She’s the mentor for the Capital to Coast agent team, so most of what she says on this show is something she already said to an agent that same week.

She taught before she sold. It shows in the way she explains things — nothing is ever assumed knowledge.

Make it a habit

Thirty minutes a week. You already have the thirty minutes.

You don’t need to carve out study time. You need to stop driving in silence. Pick one of these and it becomes automatic in about two weeks.

Monday

The dread drive

The drive to your first appointment of the week, when you’re mentally running the whole calendar and getting a little tight about it.

Wednesday

The admin block

While you’re finally clearing the CRM you’ve been avoiding. Hands busy, brain free.

Saturday

Open house setup

The forty minutes between putting out the last sign and the first person walking in.

Sunday

The reset

Before you look at next week and panic. Ten minutes of somebody else’s honesty helps more than another planner.

Hit follow once and it just shows up. That’s the entire habit.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Real Talk Real Agents podcast about?

Real Talk Real Agents is a weekly real estate podcast for agents and Realtors. Episodes run about thirty minutes.

Who hosts Real Talk Real Agents?

Pam Saxman is Broker and Owner of Capital to Coast Realty. Mackenzie Sottini is a broker and the agent mentor for the team, based in Cary and working the Triangle. She came to real estate from a career in education. Both are with Capital to Coast Realty.

Where can I listen to Real Talk Real Agents?

Free on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music, iHeartRadio, Deezer, Podcast Addict and Audioboom. Full video episodes are on YouTube. Every link is right here.

How often do new episodes come out?

A new episode publishes every week. Follow or subscribe on any app and each one arrives automatically.

Is this podcast good for brand new real estate agents?

Yes. A lot of the show is aimed at agents in their first two years — what to do in a slow month, how to talk about commission without apologizing, how to build a database from nothing, and how to tell whether your brokerage is actually supporting you. Experienced agents and team leaders listen for the market conversations and the systems talk.

Do I have to be a real estate agent in North Carolina for it to be useful?

No. The markets referenced are coastal North Carolina and the Triangle, but the conversations — pricing, negotiation, lead follow-up, burnout, buyer agreements — apply anywhere in the United States. Agents listen from all over.

Is the podcast free? Is there a course or coaching upsell?

The podcast is completely free and there is no course, mastermind or coaching program attached to it. It’s made by two working brokers who wanted an honest agent conversation to exist.

Can I be a guest on the show?

Pam and Mackenzie regularly bring on working agents to talk through what’s happening in their market. Reach out through Capital to Coast Realty to pitch yourself or a topic.

Two ways to help

If the show has been useful, here’s how you pay it forward.

Neither one costs anything, and both put this in front of agents who need it.

Leave a review

Apple Podcasts ranks shows partly on ratings, which means one review from you does more for discovery than a month of us posting about it. Thirty seconds, no account setup if you’re already on an iPhone.

Come on the show

We bring on working agents constantly — not because they’re famous, but because they’re in the middle of something worth talking about. A weird deal, a market shift, a system that finally clicked. Tell us what you’d want to talk about.

For agents who want more than a podcast

Some people listen for a while, then get curious about how we actually run things.

Capital to Coast Realty is a boutique brokerage working two of North Carolina’s strongest markets — the coast and the Triangle — with a Luxury Division and a New Home Division. If the conversations on this show sound like the kind of support you’ve been missing, the door is open.
